Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice President of the United States. She is the first woman to be elected vice president and she is also the highest-ranking female officer in American history. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California from 2011 to 2017 and an United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In the following years, she was the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. She was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who fought for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. The path towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is best known for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
